I am inspired by nature, specifically the forever evolving lines and patterns seen in wood and water. In 2012 I started drawing intricate illustrations of animals of the Chesapeake Bay using pen and ink. As of 2020 there is now 16 different animals in the series and it is continuing to expand with 17 in progress, entitled “Otter Friends”
Along with drawing, I also enjoy sculpting and fabricating with materials I find on the coastlines . Driftwood, fossils, and sea glass, are common materials that make there way into wind chimes, animal sculptures, and mosaics.
I am fascinated with the combination of the imagination with natural environments. Some of my work has a whimsical quality to it, while others may have abstract patterns combined with a scientific illustration approach.
